We were taught that India’s idea was a “mixed economy” which refers to a system where state and private sector goes hand in hand. I am also aware of the circumstances during which the decision was made; but we must admit that we have got a great ‘khichdi‘ out of this combination of Socialism and Capitalism and none has been attained, so far.
It was necessary to implement and workout with the Socialism, first; so that a stable system for employment, health, sanitation, education, environment conservation, financial activities etc. could have been established. Serving the capitalists should have been the last thing to do. Disturbances occur when we don’t plan, prioritize and address the most important issues, first.
Yesterday’s issues have grown uglier than before and are showing up, one after another. We have no proper system to settle the grievances. We know and we must admit it and try to build a new development model for India.
Today, India is a confused economy as well as a democracy with confused voters, confused citizens, confused employees, confused youth, confused leaders and confused government.
1. Education and health facilities should always be affordable and accessible.
2. New jobs in every field should be generated in proportion to the population growth.
3. Mental health of youth and employees must be addressed.
4. A new system of reservation based on financial status, alone, must be created.
5. Average age of parliament must be reduced.
6. Immediate measures to conserve and enhance the quality of environment should be implemented.
7. Courses and programs based on gender equality, sex education and child security to bring out psychological changes in the core society must be designed and openly talked about.
There are ‘n’ number of issues that are waiting to be heard and solved, as soon as possible.
We have failed. We shouldn’t play the blame game or suppress the voices. Hear them out and rectify the mistakes of past.
